Controversial islands, with at least five countries claiming different islands, islets, atolls and reefs. These include China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan and Brunei.

 

Itu Aba/ Taiping Island is claimed by Taiwan and one of the largest islands in the group. Military currently are the main residents of the island with some civilians but no football activity to report of.

 

Thitu Island, claimed by Philippines, has mostly military but about 200 civilians live on the island. There is a fifth class municipality Kalayaan which includes Philippines claimed islands, Likasa (West York),Parola (Northeast Cay),Lawak (Nanshan),Loaita (Kota), Patag and Paniak Islands. No football activity reported on these islands.

 

Vietnam controls Spratly (Truong Sa) which even has a primary school, raising hopes of football being played by kids. Other islets are too small for any permanent settlements.

 

Overall, no reported football activity on these disputed islands.
